CID takes over Thanjavur blast case

CHENNAI, Feb 9: Crime Branch CID has taken over the case relating to the bomb blast in a rice mill in Thanjavur late Saturday night killing four persons and injuring two others. A team led by Inspector General of Police (Crime) Paramveer Singh has rushed to the spot to conduct the investigations.

The blast had occurred in the rice mill of Abdul Hameed who was also injured in the blast. Police have taken both Abdul Hameed and his son Abdul Kader for interrogations.

According to an official press release, the government has given instructions to arrest everyone concerned with the blast. State Police has formed a separate team to watch the movements of those dealing with explosive substances and has warned that those found guilty would be dealt with sternly under the National Explosive Act.
