Indian Open in October

HYDERABAD: Badminton Association of India (BAI) will host a Rs 60 lakh Indian Open IBF grand prize money badminton championship at Bangalore from October 28 to November 3.

After BAI's general body meeting, president V K Verma and executive president Prakash Padukone said the merger of Indian Badminton Confederation (IBC) with BAI was unanimously ratified in the AGM attended by all barring Railways, Goa, Nagaland, Mizoram and Sikkim.

For the first time, players representatives Vimal Kumar and Leroy D'Sa were invited for the AGM and many of their suggestions would be implemented in due course, Padukone said.

Tillstrom to play

MUMBAI: Defending champion Mikael Tillstrom has confirmed his participation for the Gold Flake Open to be played at the Nungambakkam Stadium, Chennai from April 6 to 12. The Swede had defeated the fifth seed Alex Radescu 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 in the final last year for his first career title.

Classic Masters

BANGALORE:Top notch golfers, barring Jeev Milkha Singh, will be in action in the Rs 15-lakh Classic Masters to be played at the Classic Golf Course from February 11 to 14.

Vijay Kumar, who leads the Order of Merit with earnings of over Rs 7 lakh, has confirmed his participation. Others include Arjun Atwal, Vivek Bhandari, Inderjit Bhalotia, Ali Sher, Jyothi Randhawa and Gaurav Ghei.
