Seshan's `indecent proposal'

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NANDED, February 10: Former chief election commissioner T N Seshan had approached the Congress party through a middleman with a request not to field a Congress candidate against him if he was fielded as a Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena-supported candidate in the Lok Sabha election from one of the constituencies in Mumbai, former Maharashtra chief minister Sharad Pawar said at a press conference here yesterday. Pawar revealed that Seshan's request was turned down by the Congress high command as he had contested the presidential election and was supported by BJP and Shiv Sena.
