Youth rips open 90-yr-old man, eats his heart, drinks his blood

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
JABALPUR, FEB 10: In a bizarre incident of cannibalism, a 22-year-old youth killed a 90-year-old man, drank his blood and ate his heart and flesh, at Kareli, in the Narsingpur district, about 100 km from here. The horrifying incident occurred on the night of February 5 in a jhuggi along a railway track.

The Kareli police arrested the youth who apparently did not try to escape. The district administrative and police officers have rushed to Kareli which went into a frenzy over the incident, unheard of by the local populace in the past. The abnormal youth, upon being interrogated, claimed that he had already eaten three goats, one boar and one male buffalo and intended to savour seven human beings.

The youth, Ramsharan Chowhan, belongs to village Baharpur of Uttar Pradesh and reportedly came to the village aboard a goods train. He alighted at Kareli railway station and walked along the rail track till he reached the hut in which 90-year-old Mulchand Lodhi was sleeping. Lodhi's son and daughter-in-law wereaway at their farm. When Lodhi's son returned to the hut, he was horrified to see the body of his father lying ripped open and the youth eating the heart of the old man along with a chapati and onion. He immediately informed the police who arrested the youth.

It is reported that the youth's hands and mouth were awash with blood and pieces of flesh at the time of his arrest. The youth, with a tinge of pride, informed the police that he had also eaten a dog the same evening.
