CBI final report in JMM secy's kidnap case soon

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, March 10: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday informed the High Court that it had failed to trace Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren's secretary, who had been abducted four years ago.

The CBI told the division bench that extensive probe by the CBI to trace secretary Sashi Nath Jha has not yielded any result and so they were closing the case.

CBI counsel R S Jamuar submitted before Justices Gupta and Nandi that the team headed by Deputy Inspector General Satish Chandra would soon file its final report under Section 173 of the Criminal Procedure Code before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate. Earlier, an FIR had been filed before him. The CBI said it could not trace either Jha or his body and had decided to close the investigations, Jamuar said.

The CBI had arrested Sunil Khaware in Ranchi on November 29 last on charges of abducting Jha, who has been missing since March 1994. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Prem Kumar had also issued non-bailable warrants against twomore persons who were suspected to be involved in the abduction of Jha.

A petition filed by Jha's mother, Priyambada Devi, had alleged that as several top politicians were involved in the JMM case, the police were not conducting proper investigation. Khaware had denied any role in the abduction of Jha.
