Cabinet reshuffle by next week

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, March 10: Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi today hinted at a State Cabinet reshuffle before the budget session of the State Legislature gets underway on March 16.

Speaking to mediapersons at Mantralaya here, Joshi, however, declined to comment categorically on whether some ministers might be axed following the poor performance of the ruling Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance in the recent Lok Sabha polls. ``Ajun vichar pakka jhala nahi,'' (I still have to take a final decision on the matter) was all he offered by way of comment when asked.

``First, we have decided to reshuffle the portfolios,'' the chief minister said, adding that some Independents, who had supported the Sena-BJP Government, may be inducted into the State Cabinet.

Joshi said that as per the rules, the Srikrishna Commission report, submitted to the State Government on February 16, would have to be tabled in the Legislature session along with the Action Taken Report (ATR). ``But as there is a delay in the latter(ATR), we are examining whether the Srikrishna report alone could be tabled in the forthcoming Legislature session,'' he said.
