India `A' clinch series

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
KARACHI, March 10: Propelled by brilliant all-round performance of Sairaj Bahutule and aggressive bowling of Ajit Agarkar and Noel David, India `A' defeated Pakistan `A' by 58 runs in the final `Test' here today to clinch the four-match series 1-0.

The Indian second string's rare achievement of defeating Pakistan in Pakistan came as icing on the cake for the cricket buffs back home who were already rejoicing at the senior team's emphatic 179-run win against redoubtable Australia in Chennai earlier in the day.

Resuming at the overnight score of 8 for one, Pakistan, chasing a target of 229 for win, failed to stand up to some fine bowling by the Indians. The only exception was Sahid Afridi who put up some resistance to the Indian bowlers while making 65. Coach Krish Srikkanth told PTI it was one of the best performances by the boys.
