PPS trains guns on convent schools

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, March 20: The Patit Pawan Saghatana has launched an agitation against the "non-compliance" of the State government order regarding kindergarten admissions by convent schools represented by the Diocesan Board. Scores of PPS activists, including its office-bearers, staged a dharna in front of St Helena's School on Thursday condemning the Diocesan Board's action of staying the admission process to kindergarten in all its 60 covent schools and challenging the State government's order in the court. The activists carrying PPS flag and banners shouted slogans against the Diocesan Board.

Describing the attitude of "non-compliance of government order" as "fatal", the PPS has appealed to the State to take a firm stand in the matter even if all the kindergarten sections in convent schools had to be closed down. In a press release issued today, the PPS supported the government's intentions behind the bill. "Most of the times the whole purpose of conducting pre-admission interviews and tests of childrenand their wards is to obtain donations from the parents," said the release.
