Punjab CPI to opt for Congress in Panchayat polls

CHANDIGARH, March 20: The Communist Party of India, which joined hands with the Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party in the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab, proposes to continue this partnership in the forthcoming elections to the panchayat bodies in the state.The elections to the gram panchayats, block samitis and zila parishads are to be held simultaneously by June 30 next. This proposed future line emerged at a meeting which deliberated upon the gains and losses of alliance with the Congress in the just concluded Lok Sabha polls.
