Mamata still swears by Bengal package

EXPRESS NEWS SERV ICE
CALCUTTA, March 20: Perusing the Bengal Package is more important than looking for a ministerial berth in the new BJP-led Government at the Centre, the Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee told reporters here today when asked why West Bengal went unrepresented in the present 43-member ministry of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Banerjee, who returned from Delhi after attending the swearing-in ceremony, denied the fact that her party opposed the BJP leadership move to allot a ministerial berth to the party's state unit chief and the lone MP from Bengal Tapan Sikdhar. ``It's BJP's internal matter to decide whom they would make a minister. We have nothing to do with it. For us Bengal package is more important," she said.
