CHANDIGARH, March 28: Sushil Bali, the chief of bureau of Television International (TVI) passed away here this morning after prolonged illness. He was 54.Before joining TVI in 1996, Bali worked for the Press Trust of India, the country's leading national news agency, for about thirty years. Having joined as a sub-editor, Bali rose to the position of assistant general manager through sheer ability and determination.
He proved his capability very early in life as a sub-editor and later as a correspondent. In the capacity of a correspondent, he covered several important events, including the 1980 Moscow and 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. It was not long before he had adapted himself to the electronic media.
He took an active role in the social and cultural life of Chandigarh. He was instrumental in building one of the best press clubs of the country in Chandigarh.
Bali is survived by his wife and two sons.
