TNCC invites TMC to merge

CHENNAI, March 31: The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) has reiterated its call for reunification of the break-away Tamil Maanila Congress with the TNCC, asserting that such a move would be relevant and necessary in the light of political compulsions. ``I am prepared for any sacrifice in the interest of the party,'' TNCC president K V Thangabalu said at a news conference on Tuesday, indicating the TNCC leadership's eagerness to accommodate the political interests of the TMC in the event of a merger. ``I have close contacts with TMC leader G K Moopanar,'' he said, underscoring the need for the two parties to come together.
