Police official gets life term

AMRITSAR, MARCH 31: District and Sessions Judge, Amritsar, K S Kauldhar yesterday sentenced Deputy Superintendent of Police Baldev Singh and head constable Balwinder Singh to seven sentences of life imprisonment (to run simultaneously) for kidnapping and killing eight members of a family in Bagga village near here on October 29, 1991. The court acquitted seven accused.The case, in which the victims were eliminated to settle a personal score, was highlighted by the media during the peak of militancy.
