IAS men shifted in Gujarat

GANDHINAGAR, March 31: The Gujarat Government has transferred some senior IAS officials in the state as part of a major bureaucratic reshuffle.Accordingly Baroda district collector, Rajiv Gupta has been appointed as deputy secretary to agriculture and cooperation department in place of J S Dave, an official release said here today.

A G Mukim, deputy secretary to the Finance Department, would take over the charge from Gupta as Baroda Collector.

P D Vaghela, commissioner of entertainment tax and ex-officio deputy secretary to government (information), broadcasting and tourism departments, has been appointed as collector, Banaskantha, Palanpur.

Varesh Sinha, managing director, Gujarat Power Corporation Ltd, has been transferred and appointed as Urban Land Tribunal, Ahmedabad.

Dr K N Shelat, secretary to government (power project and petroleum), energy and petrochemicals department, has been transferred and appointed commissioner of rural development in place of R K Tripathy, who would be appointedmanaging director, Gujarat Dairy Development Corporation.

G V Som, collector of Panchmahals, and Anuradha Mall, collector of Banaskantha, Palanpur, have also been transferred. N V Modi, commissioner of relief, revenue department, has been appointed as secretary to general administration department (services) in place of G C Shah, who will be going on superannuation.

Dohad collector A M Solanki would also hold the additional charge of Panchmahals, Godhra.

P V Trivedi, director of employment, would hold the additional charge of commissioner of entertainment tax and ex-officio deputy secretary to government, information, broadcasting and tourism departments.

Meanwhile, some bureaucratic transfers are in the offing in Uttar Pradesh too with the Chief Secretary of the state saying the same would be announced in the coming week. However, the bureaucracy is unaware of the move and is thinking of going on an agitation if the the reshuffle is effected by the government. The unions are all ready to battle itout with the government on this point and have prepared the necessary papers to prove their point.
