2-hour load-shedding in Karnataka from today

BANGALORE, March 31: The Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB) will resort to a two-hour load shedding in urban areas and impose power cut on high tension industries following increased demand, Minister of State for Power Sharanabasappa Darshanapur said today. He said the urban load shedding - one hour each in the morning and in the evening was likely to come into effect from tomorrow. Both load-shedding and power cut had to be approved by Chief Minister J H Patel, he added.He said the KEB had recommended four-hour urban load shedding and 20 per cent power cut for high tension industries.He said the state had started wheeling 2.3 million units of power from Maharashtra at the rate of Rs 2.10 per unit to tide over the situation.
