New C-in-C takes overVice Admiral Madhvendra Singh, PVSM, AVSM, took over as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command in Mumbai on Tuesday. He succeeds Vice Admiral Avnish Rai Tandon who retired today after 37 years of service in the Indian Navy.
To mark the changeover, an impressive ceremonial parade was held at the INS Kunjali this morning where 800 naval personnel gave a farewell salute to Admiral Tandon.

"Freedom fighter" commits suicide
As the budget session of the state legislature was underway, S N Bhagwatisingh who claimed to be a freedom fighter, committed suicide outside Vidhan Bhavan on Monday afternoon. Police said the reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained.
