New trains introduced

Two passenger trains have been introduced in the Jodhpur Marwar section which has been newly converted into a broad gauge from March 15. The trains will leave Jodhpur from 7 am and 12.30 pm and reach Marwar at 9.45 am and 15.15 pm respectively. They return from Marwar at 11.20 am and 6.00 pm and reach Jodhpur at 2.15 pm and 8.15 pm respectively.

Scientists honoured

Scientists from the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre were recently honoured with the Golden Award of Indian Independence at Kuvempu University for outstanding contributions in their respective fields. Vice-chancellor and professor P Venkatramaiah presented awards to Dr P N Moorthy for Basic and Applied Sciences and Dr P K Padmanabhan in Analytic Sciences.

Dance and music workshop

A 15-day dance and vocal music workshop for students between 14 and 21 years will be conducted from April 14 to 28 at Yuvak Biradari Centre, Hazarimal Somani Marg, near Capitol Cinema. Registration will commence from April6. For details, call on 2075592.

Ray takes over as Chief of Staff

Rear Admiral Badhan Kumar Ray took over as the chief of staff, western naval command at the command headquarters on Monday. He joined the Indian Navy in 1969 and has served in various capacities including command of INS Hosdurg, INS Ranvir and INS Chilka.
