Sinha named captain

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
March 31: Defender Subir Sinha of Air-India will lead Maharashtra in the 54th Senior National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy to be held at Guwahati from April 6 to 27. The team leaves for Guwahati tomorrow (April 1) and will play Sikkim in their opening match on April 6.

The team

Goalkeepers: Yusuf Ansari, Partha Das (both Air-India) and K B Faisal (Bank of India).

Defenders: Sandip Kharat, Ajay Acharya, Subir Sinha (captain), Henry Picardo (all 4 of Air-India), S Majumdar (Mahindras), Evaristo Cardozo (Bank of India), Nasir Hussain (vice-capt, Central Bank) and Imtiyaz Qureshi (Solapur).

Midfielders: Satish Minz, Andrew Lewis (both of Mahindras), Taposh Ghosh, K Paite (both of Air-India), Caitano Fernandes (Central Bank) and Raju Mate (Sangli).

Forwards: Ratan Singh (RCF), Herbert Philip (Mahindras), Anthony Fernandes (Air-India), Xavier Swamy (Ahmednagar), Amar Pardeshi, Vijay Kumar (both of Poona) and Girish Majumdar (Jalgaon).
