WASHINGTON, April 6: President Bill Clinton will ``reach out'' to the widow of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King to discuss her request for a special investigation into her husband's 1968 assassination.The President will speak with Corretta Scott King this weekend to let her know that attorney general Janet Reno will be in touch with her, said White House advisor Rahm Emanuel.
``She'll be looking into it,'' Emmanuel told NBC television. ``The President will be talking to King over the weekend... The first step is for the attorney general to be in touch with her''.
Coretta King said on Thursday in Atlanta, Georgia that there was new information to support the family's contention that his murder was a conspiracy that involved more than convicted triggerman James Earl Ray.The 30th anniversary of King's death was on Sunday.
Coretta King told reporters she wanted a special commission to root out ``the truth'' so the family once and for all could know the circumstances surrounding her latehusband's murder.
Ray, who is critically ill in prison, initially confessed to the killing but later said he did not act alone. King was shot dead on 1968 while standing on a balcony outside the Lorraine Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee.
