  BJP plans revival of delimitation bill
In what could prove to be a political hot potato, the BJP government plans to revive in the coming budget session of Parliament the long-pending delimitation bill which seeks to redraw the demographic map of the country. One of the top items on the electoral reforms agenda, the bill will unfreeze the ban on redrawing and restructuring the contours of some of the larger Parliamentary constituencies in order to create more small ones.
  Ex-Fertiliser Minister rebuts Paul's claim
Former fertiliser minister R Prabhu has disputed Swraj Paul's claim that one reason he (Paul) fell out with Rajiv Gandhi was because he refused to oblige Italian Ottavio Quattrocchi. Prabhu said Paul was granted a license to set up a fertiliser plant in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, in 1985. But he did not take any effective steps to implement the project for three years.

24 Indians dead in Haj tragedy
Embassy officials camping at Mecca began the process of identifying 24 Indians among the pilgrims killed in the stampede during "stoning the devil" ritual at Mina, 10 km from the holy Mecca city. Of the 24, 13 were men and 11 women and that not many Indians were injured in the stampede which claimed the lives of at least 150 Muslim pilgrims, mostly elderly and sick.
Govt rapped on Excise promotion policy
AM Prasad, Member, Central Board of Excise and Customs, New Delhi came down heavily on the government for the false promises made to the Excise Department with regard to the promotion policies and pay parity with the Central Bureau of Investigation and IB employees. For the past decade the officers of the Central Excise have been demanding pay parity with the CBI and IB officials.

ED crackdown on money exchange racket
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has busted a scam involving a group which indulged in money changing racket wherein the Basic Travel Quota (BTQ) was manipulated to show as if foreign exchange to the tune of Rs 27.45 crore were sold to persons going abroad, contravening the rules of the RBI. This is the second crackdown on Full Fledged Money Changers (FFMCs) in recent times by the ED.
Infosys posts 79% rise in net profit
Infosys Technologies Ltd has reported a 79 per cent growth in net profit for the year ending March 31. The company's net stood at Rs 60.36 crore compared to Rs 33.68 crore in the previous year. During the same period the total income saw a rise of 81 per cent to Rs 260.37 crore from Rs 143.81 crore earlier. The company, however, sounded a note of caution while declaring its results.
