BJP plans revival of delimitation bill
In what could prove to be a political hot potato, the BJP government plans to revive in the coming budget session of Parliament the long-pending delimitation bill which seeks to redraw the demographic map of the country. One of the top items on the electoral reforms agenda, the bill will unfreeze the ban on redrawing and restructuring the contours of some of the larger Parliamentary constituencies in order to create more small ones.

State Chief Minister J B Patnaik said he was willing to relinquish his post as chief of the Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC). Patnaik is perhaps the only Congress leader in the country who holds three posts, being a member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) , apart from his political and administrative posts in the State.

The names of former Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Sunderlal Patwa are being considered for Governorship.
DMK volte-face on BJP angers Jaya
AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalitha flayed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for what she termed was his volte face with regard to the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) policies soon after it had assumed power at the Centre. The Chief Minister who has now launched a propaganda supporting the BJP should withdraw all the adverse statements he had made against that party before elections, the AIADMK leader has demanded.
Mamata backs LF decision on Dunlop takeover
Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee welcomed the Left Front government's willingness to take over the Dunlop factory at Sahagunj, saying it would help thousands of workers and their families, and appealed to political parties not to politicise the issue. She advised the state government against delaying the implementation of the decision.
