Hosts down PakistanBHATINDA: India defeated Pakistan by 20-points in the fifth and final kabaddi Test match at Talwandi Sabo on Monday to clinch the series 4-1. The Indian team registered a fluent 53-33 win against Pakistan in the match organised by the District Olympic Association at the local Guru Kanshi College.
India won a cliffhanger at Faridkot on April 5 by one point, 46-45, to take a 1-0 lead but Pakistan restored parity by winning the second match at Jamshedpur. India went 2-1 ahead with a 46-34 win in the third Test played at Lambi in Faridkot and then consolidated it by winning the fourth Test played at Khanna with a 54-33 verdict.
China too good
NEW DELHI: Reigning National champion Chetan Baboor's straight-games victory over Wg Gang in the first singles was the lone consolation in India's 1-3 loss against China in the 15th Fajr International Table Tennis Tournament held in Isfahan City of Iran. S Raman and Arjun Dutta lost their matches to P Guoling and M Xianjan,respectively. Chetan also lost his match to Guoling in three games.
The results: India lost to China 1-3 (Chetan Baboor bt Wg gang 21-8, 21-15; S Raman lost to F Guoling 15-21, 18-21; Arjun Dutta lost to M Xianjan 21-14, 14-21, 13-21; Chetan Baboor lost to F Guoling 21-12, 12-21, 19-21).
Railways champs
PATNA: Railways today defeated star-studded Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in men's and women's sections 3-2 and 3-0 respectively in the second Super Leage Volleyball Championship at the Gandhi Maidan here. Railways women drubbed Andhra Pradesh 15-6, 15-12 and 15-8 in a 80-minutes battle. Most of the points were earned by key spikers Hemlatha and Sangeeta.
In the second match of the day in men's section, Railways, studded with three international players won the first game 15-10 but lost the second and third games 9-15, 9-15 due to poor defence and passing. Railways, however, managed to regain their hold over the match winning the fourth and fifth games 17-15 and 15-12.

NEW DELHI: Top-seeded Ankita Bhambri of Delhi suffered a shock defeat at the hands of qualifier Parul Goswamy (Delhi) in the first round of girls under-14 category in the North Zone leg of Adidas Junior Tennis Circuit. Parul won 6-1, 6-1.
