Bureaucrats reshuffled

MUMBAI: In a major reshuffle of IAS officers in the State, the government has transferred 12 senior bureaucrats including Mumbai City Collector Vijay Kumar Gautam and Mumbai District Collector Sanjay Chahande. Gautam has been transferred to Pune while Parbhani Collector V L Gavai will replace Chahande.

DUBAI: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mukhtar Abbas Naqwi has said that the Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati, S S Gill will be changed but the governing Board will be retained. Asserting that the government has no intention of encroaching on the autonomy of the Prasar Bharati he, however, said the organisation will be made accountable to Parliament as in the case of the British Broadcasting Corporation.

Cellular licence

NEW DELHI: Delhi High Court today restrained the Department of Telecommunication from giving actual licence to the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. for operation of cellular servicesin Delhi and Mumbai.

Cops dismissed

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Government today dismissed 12 policemen and decided to prosecute them for their alleged involvement in three separate cases of rape and murder this month, which had sent shock waves in the State. A high-level meeting which reviewed law and order situation in the wake of gangrape of two women and murder of a youth by policemen took the decision.
