NEW DELHI, April 16: After a cool first set win, Shruti Dhawan allowed Rani Smita Jain to turn on the heat for a while before wrapping up the girls under-16 final and eight points in the first leg of the adidas junior circuit tournament at the DTA clay courts here on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the tiny Ankita Bhambri, watched by coach Suresh Menon, stroked freely throughout her 6-2, 6-2 win against Naina Karsolia for the girls under-14 title.

Pappachan signs with FC Kochin
KOCHI: Veteraninternational CV Pappachan (Kerala Police) is among the 29 players who signed for FC Kochin this season, according to Babu Mather, the Club's general secretary here today. International KV Dhanesh (SBT, Thiruvananthapuram) has also joined the team. Mather said that besides Pappachan, the only other player who is above 30 years of age in the team is its goalkeeper Casimira Palha, who has joined from Dempo, Goa.
