Two years ago, an American tourist clicked Shyam Lal while he was having tea. The photo found its way into a Tazo tea advertisement in the US and the president of the firm has now decided to pay him the fee -- $ 500 i.e Rs 19,000.

Shyam Lal does not remember when the photographer clicked hispicture. But he likes the media attention that is suddenly being showered upon him. ``I heard that my picture is out in the newspapers. But I have not been able to buy the paper yet, '' he said.

He has grabbed the attention of people who never noticed him in the Spice Market. He has also learnt to pose for photographers. Shyam Lal has worked hard all his life. Though his bones protrude from his sagging skin and he cannot walk fast, he says he isn't tired yet. ``I have bought a stereo, a bed and many steel utensils with my earnings. I have bought Shamo (his wife) silver trinkets. I don't know whether my family is happy with me but I have done my best.''
