Bhandara, April 25: A rally will be organised to highlight the plight of the the Gosikhurd irrigation project-hit at Delhi's Ramleela Maidan on April 27 under the joint banner of the Gosikhurd Prakalpagrasta Sangharsha Samiti (GPSS), National Coordination for People's Agitation and Janadhikar Panchayat. Noted Narmada Bachao activist Medha Patkar will lead the agitation.This rally is a part of the campaign to divert the Centre's attention to the miseries inflicted on the displaced masses of Gosikhurd ``under the cloak of development profiting only a privileged few,'' said Vishnudas Lonare, convener of the rally and a Gosikhurd Prakalpagrasta Sangharsha Samiti activist. Lonare informed that the issue of ``violation of human rights'' in the Gosikhurd project would also be raised.
The action committee members Hemlata Bhivgade, Dr Prakash Towar, Dr Suresh Khairnar, Dinesh Shende, Vilas Bhongade have appealed to other project-hit people in Vidarbha to give strength to this rally.
The committee has asked therally participants to gather at Nagpur railway station at 12 noon on April 26. The rally will leave for Delhi by Gondwana Express.
