Patnaik offers to quit as PCC chief

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
New Delhi, April 25: Orissa Chief Minister J B Patnaik, under pressure from within the party for its debacle in the recent elections, today offered to quit as PCC president during a meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Patnaik, who is in the Capital to brief about the fight between two groups of Congressmen at Bhubaneswar recently, said he made his views clear to the party leadership on the organisational matters in the state. ``I have been telling the leaders that I am willing to quit the post as I believe in the theory of one-man-one-post,'' Patnaik said, adding he was continuing in the post as majority of the people wanted.
