  Bhutia flavour in Bengal win
It will be Bengal versus Goa in the Santosh Trophy final for the third time on the trot. For Bengal, it will be their 37th final and the fifth consecutive time. This became possible after Bengal defeated Punjab 2-1 at the Nehru Stadium under floodlights yesterday.
  Tendulkar, greatest after Don: Waugh
Australia's limited overs captain Steve Waugh declared Indian star Sachin Tendulkar was best batsman since Sir Donald Bradman after Tendulkar destroyed his side in Sharjah. Tendulkar's 134 yesterday took his haul against Australia to 1,130 runs from 12 innings at an average of 113 since the Australians arrived in India on February 21.

A combination of India's great One-Day International stars
Sunil Gavaskar claims that in 1975 the Indian side "treated the one-day game as a bit of holiday." However, by 1983 they were taking it so seriously that they broke the West Indies stranglehold to become World Cup champions. They then won the World Championship of Cricket in Australia in 1985 and they are currently in search of more glory.

Chang, Courier cruise ahead
Defending champion Michael Chang and Jim Courier moved into the semifinals of the US Clay Court championships with convincing victories over overmatched opponents last night. Chang, the top seed, beat Brazil's Marcio Carlsson 6-3, 6-1 and the third-seeded Courier swept the first eight games en route to a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Germany's Marcello Craca.
Shiv Prakash courses new high
Shiv Prakash is thrilled, not because he won the title -- that was his after two rounds -- but he could call home to convey the news. All these years, he didn't have a telephone at home to convey what he had achieved on the golf courses around the country. It was installed at home about a couple of months ago. It is not yet known how his family reacted to his record-breaking title win, but his name became part of Delhi Golf Club history when he finished with a mind-boggling aggregate of 17-under 271 to pocket Rs 1,16,620 and a trophy at the SRF Open.
