Iranian scribe condemned to death by stoning

AGENCE FRANCE PRESSE
TEHRAN, May 2: Iranian journalist Morteza Firuzi faces being stoned to death on spying and adultery charges under Islamic law in force in the country, a newspaper here reported today.

"The sentencing of Firuzi for spying for Japan, South Korea and France, and the stoning for adultery has been approved but the judicial officials have still not given their approval for the sentence to be carried out,'' it said.

Firuzi is the former editor-in-chief of the English-language newspaper, Iran News.
