NEW DELHI, May 2: A six-month-old infant, Sonu, who had been kidnapped from a Nehru Place jhuggi on April 21, was rescued last night from Aara town in Bihar. A 50-year-old woman and her son have been arrested in this regard.Sonu's father Mohammed Jahangir had registered an FIR in the Kalkaji police station when he found both Sonu and his nine-year-old son Shamim missing. However, Shamim came back home in the evening of April 21 and narrated the gruesome incident. He said Bijma Devi (50), their neighbour, had taken both Sonu and Shamim to a near-by temple and drugged Shamim there and left with the infant while he was sleeping.Bijma and her son Devender had come to the Nehru Place JJ clusters in mid-April and rented a jhuggi near Jahangir's. Subsequently, they became very friendly with Jahangir's family within a matter of days.
With the information received from Shamim and other jhuggi dwellers, the police traced 22-year-old Santosh, who reportedly had an affair with Bijma, in Garhi village.
Interrogationrevealed that Bijma along with the child had left for the Aara town where Santosh's family lived. Bijma had reportedly kidnapped the infant with the motive of stopping Santosh's marriage with another woman.
According to Santosh, Bijma did not want him to marry another woman. She met Santosh's parents and told them that he could not marry again as she was married to him and even had a child from him.
