  Internet2: A new avtar of Internet taking shape in US varsities
The internet came and conquered with one swoop. And like every successful run it has got a sequel. As many as 122 universities in the United Sates are currently working on the concept of a second internet called Internet2. On April 14, US vice-president Al Gore announced that three hightech companies would be contributing about $ 500 million in services to help build the Internet2.
  Goodbye to all that

According to Nikhil Chakravartty chairman of the Prasar Bharati Board it is within the rights of the government to remove SS Gill as it was the government which had appointed him. Also since technically Gill is overage he can be removed.
