  Poor performance by Indian golfers
The four Indians who made the cut in the Omega Tour's $200,000 Macau Open had a disappointing third round yesterday. Arjun Singh and Arjun Atwal who were sharing the 12th spot after the second round returned poor cards to slip down the board.
  Strong defence, draw in Denmark's favour
Defensively-sound Denmark are cautiously optimistic about their chances in France this summer. Contesting their second World Cup finals, the Danes have been given a relatively easy first round draw, placed with hosts France, South Africa and Saudi Arabia in Group C.

Basad Ali triumphs
Veteran golfer Basad Ali finally dropped a stroke in the last round of the Cyanamid Golf Championships at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club course. However, that did not change the way the final standings were supposed to be. Basad, who can perhaps walk blindfolded through the RCGC without hitting a tree, won the Rs 5 lakh tournament with an aggregate of two under 286.

India to take on Iraq in opener
The Rajiv Gandhi Under-21 international football tournament might finally take place, after all the hiccups. The All India Football Federation on Saturday released the fixtures for the tournament to be held in Goa from May 5.
Punjab Police, Railways enter final
