3-year-old injured in Agripada firing

Mumbai, May 4: A travel agent was shot at on the busy Maulana Azad Road in Agripada this evening. In the process, an innocent three-year-old Shaheen Sheikh received bullet injuries in her right leg.

According to police sources, 25 year-old Mohammad Parvez Mohammad Ali Ansari alias Gama was standing outside his living quarters at Jairam Chawl near July Maidan. At around 7.30 pm, two unidentified persons riding a Yamaha motorcycle appeared and fired shots at him before fleeing. The bullets which ricocheted hit Shaheen, who was standing nearby. Shaheen and Gama were rushed to the Nair hospital at Bombay Central.

Sources recounted that two of Gama's brothers, Pappu and Kalu, had been shot dead by one gangster Sadiq Kalia three years ago. Subsequently, Kalia was also killed in a police encounter last year. The police are investigating the case.
