Blame it all on Netanyahu if talks fail: Arafat

REUTERS
LONDON, May 4: Palestinian President Yasser Arafat said today Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would bear responsibility for ``chaos'' if the crucial Middle-East peace talks failed.

Emerging from a meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Arafat said there had been no progress in the talks so far and that if Netanyahu was serious about peace, ``today is the day'' to accept US proposals for an Israeli withdrawal from part of the occupied West Bank. Arafat, who is due to meet US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright after her separate talks with Netanyahu, described the Israeli position as ``intransigent''.
