Fatal accident
A man died on the spot when he fell off from a speeding three-wheeler in the Sagrampura area of the city. Jayeshbhai Khandubhai Darji, the driver of the rickshaw told the Athwa Lines police that he along with his friend, Ashokbhai, were travelling in the rickshaw, when Ashokbhai fell off the vehicle, banged his head against a telephone pole on the side of the road and died on the spot. The vehicle even ran over his legs, fracturing it.

Jayeshbhai handed himself over to the police. A case under sections 297 and 304 (a) of the IPC as well as sections 125, 107 and 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act have been registered in the police station and are being investigated.

Theft
A carpenter, employed with a resident of the city, stole Rs 90,000 in cash, a complaint registered in the Umra police station on Monday said. Gopalbhai Mistry, a resident of Adarsh Society in Athwa Lines, told the police that one Shyamlal Minaramji, employed with him to make furniture in his house, stole the money that had been kept in a wooden box. The accused, also a resident of Adarsh Society, is absconding, the police said. The police have registered a case under section 381 of the IPC has been registered in the police station and is being investigated.

Found dead
The dead body of an unidentified 60-year-old beggar was recovered near the Kshtrapal Mandir on Monday morning by the Athwa Lines police. The police said that the beggar might have been suffering from some illness and have sent the body to the New Civil hospital for scientific examination. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered in the police station and is being investigated.
