Pranksters rotate traffic lights

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, May 4: What will pranksters think of next! Sometime during the wee hours of Monday, one (or more?) mischief-makers discovered that it was possible to rotate the upper portion of a traffic light installation so that lights were facing front to back.

Now, if a thing can be done, it goes without saying that it must be done. And that is how perplexed motorists coming out of the Sector 17-E market this morning and approaching the lights on the road separating Sectors 17 and 18 did a double-take when they looked for red or green and instead found themselves staring at the yellow backside of a traffic light.

Says Chandigarh Traffic SP Balbir Singh: "I can't recall if such mischief was ever attempted. Well, we've informed the Engineering Department and expect the lights to be functional by tomorrow morning."
