CHANDIGARH, May 4: While two persons, including a nine-year-old girl were killed in road accidents in the city today, two persons were reportedly crushed to death in separate accidents caused by trucks in neighbouring Panchkula.Naresh Kumar, a resident of Burail village, was killed this morning, after his scooter was hit by a speeding truck on the road dividing Sectors 45 and 33, police sources said. The truck driver, Inder Pal Singh of Shimla, has been arrested for causing death due to rash and negligent driving.
Jyoti, a nine-year-old school girl from Maloya village, was reportedly crushed to death by a CTU bus plying on route No 70, on its way to Jayanti Devi, in Dadu Majra Colony, here this morning. Cyclist Mohinder Singh, a resident of Sector 15, in Panchkula, was crushed to death after he was hit by a truck on the roundabout connecting Sectors 7,8, 18 and 19 in Panchkula, this evening, sources said. The truck sped away after the incident.
In another accident involving a two-wheeler and a truck, a woman was killed while her husband was seriously injured. Pramod Kumari, a resident of Sector 39, was reportedly killed and her husband, Som Nath, serving as an officiating superintendent in the office of a senior IPS official in Punjab, was injured when their scooter, was hit by a truck near the Ghaggar bridge, sources said.
Sources said the two had gone to the streamlet to perform some religious rites.
