Nehru hockey camp
About 70 players from different sections will participate in the coaching camp to be organised by the Jawaharlal Nehru Hockey Tournament Society here from May 19 to June 13.

The players who have been selected on the basis of their performances in last year's Nehru sub-junior (under-15), junior (under-17), girls and Champion Colleges tournaments, will undergo training at the Modern School grounds. Five coaches have been deputed by the Sports Authority of India for the camp. Former World Cupper Brigadier Chimni will be the overall incharge.

Aspiring youngsters drawn from various parts of the country will take part in the camp, which is conducted annually as a prelude to the various Nehru Hockey Tournaments.

A Pentangular competition would also be held as part of the camp from June 9-13, where two teams shortlisted from the trainees and one team each from Punjab and Sind Bank Academy (Jalandhar), Air India Academy (Delhi) and Sail Academy (Rourkela) will make the field.

Atiq in form
An attacking 69 by Mohd Atiq helped Ambassador Sky Chef enter the pre-quarterfinals of Khazan Singh Memorial Tournament, beating Osnil Club by seven wickets.

Osnik Club: 163 (Raj Gautam 36, Chandan 27, Manish Mohan 27, Dinesh Yadav 2 for 9, Parmod 2 for 21, Yogendra Khari 2 for 23); Ambassador Sky Chef: 164 for 3 (Mohd Atiq 69, Kalam Mohd 36 not out).

Three share lead
Surender Kumar Sharma, H S Verma and KBL Srivastava were in joint lead with four points each at the end of the fourth round in the third Bhagawati Gas Open Chess Tournament at the Botwinnik Chess Academy.

Results: Surender Kumar Sharma bt D K Gupta (3), R K Jain (3) lost to H S Verma (4), D S Negi (3) lost to KBL Srivastava, Bhrigu Raj (2.5) lost to M G Kalra (3.5), A K Jain (3) bt Gagan Chitkara (2), Som sachdeva (2.5) lost to Shiv Kumar Sharma (3.5), Raghunath (2) lost to Chander pal (3), Praveen Karanwal (2.5) drew with Harish Sharma (2.5).

J.N.Golden in quarters
J.N.Golden beat Chand Khanna XI on spin of coin after their match was disrupted by rain in the second Lala Hari Ram Aggarwal Memorial Tournament at the MCD ground. The winners thus entered the quarterfinal. Chand Khanna XI, chasing a total of 227 for 4 made by J.N.Golden, were 22 for no loss in 3.3 overs when rain intervened play and the match had to be decided on spin of coin. Ashu Dani scored an unbeaten 103 for the winners.

Pankaj, Sanjay shine
Pankaj (86) and Sanjay Gill (5 for 11) helped Municipal Corporation of Delhi beat Jupiter by seven wickets in the Hari Singh Tyagi TYCA super league at the New Police Lines ground.

Jupiter: 118 in 34.1 overs (Yoginder Parkash 58, Deepak Kanojia 30, Sanjay Gill 5 for 11); MCD: 122 for 3 in 21.3 overs (Pankaj Malik 86, Naved 1 for 9, Harmeet 1 for 14).

Dharmesh excels
Dharmesh Verma (53 and 2 for 25) saw Keshav Puram beat Three Star by 97 runs in the President's Estate Challenge Cup League at the PBG ground.

Keshav Puram: 235 in 34.2 overs (Dharmesh Verma 53, Rajeev Sharma 53, Harsh Kapoor 33, Sujit Kumar 28 n.0, Vivek Kumar 27, Javed 4 for 26); Three Star: 138 in 32.5 overs (Sunny 36, Sajan 24, Raj Mishra 19 n.o, Prabhat Rai 4 for 28, Aditya Sharma 3 for 39, Dharmesh Verma 2 for 25).

Mod Showers win
Mod Showers, Chittaranjan Park (193 for 3: Sanju Lal 48, Sachin Dhingra 23 n.o, Gaurav 23 n.o, Dharminder Kohli 2 for 35) defeated J.D XI (191: Dharminder Kohli 61, Praveen Tyagi 26, Sanju Lal 3 for 27, Saurav 3 for 32) by six wickets to enter the quarter final of the Indo-Asian Trophy Nehru Cricket Tournament at Kalkaji.

Raghubir Trophy
An enhanced prize money of Rs 10,000 and some changes in the format will be the salient features of the 22nd Lala Raghubir Singh Hot Weather Cricket Tournament, scheduled to begin at the Modern School (Barakhamba Road) grounds from May 21.

This year, the total prize money will be Rs 61,000. Instead of playing the tournament on knockout-cum-league as was the practice till last year, this year's edition will be on league-cum-super league basis, to provide more matches to the 12 participating teams.
