Sub-committee to maintain peace in Nashik industries

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NASHIK, May 27: The committee formed by Guardian Minister Babanrao Gholap, to maintain peace in industrial areas in and around Nashik, has set up a sub-committee to resolve disputes in the poultry farms of the C and M Group.

The 11-member sub-committee headed by Deputy Labour Commissioner G S Gangurde has been asked to hold talks with the management and unions and submit its report by June 15, after which the parent committee headed by District Collector Amitabh Joshi will meet on June 19.

The committee, announced by Gholap on April 12, was to commence its meetings within a week and hammer out solutions within a month. It was formed following labour unrest in about 100 units in and around Nashik. In October last year, a riot at Navbharat Industries led to the murder of a worker, Omkar Deshmukh.

Subsequently, general secretary of the Centre of Trade Unions D L Karad was arrested.
