VADODARA, May 27: NIIT proposes to start more centres in the state and introduce Gujarati as a medium of instruction for its district-level centres soon.Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, Head Western India Geography NIIT Limited Abhas Kumar said, ``The centre has planned a thrust for career education in the state.''
Kumar observed that computer education had become a must not only for the people of the city but also for those residing in the districts. He pointed out that computer centres were unable to cater to the needs of the people residing in the districts, hence the need to have Gujarati as a medium of instruction. He said that NIIT was already catering to both the educational and corporate sectors not only in various parts of the country but also of the world.
Kumar said that the proposed new centres would maintain the quality of education. He added that the institute was primarily known for providing career guidance all over the country and would do so for the students of the districts also.
He said that reputed institutes like the Indian Institute of Management (Ahmedabad) had consulted the institute for professional guidance.
