PPCC demands deployment of Central forces
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, May 27: The Punjab Pradesh Congress has written to the Chief Election Commission demanding deployment of Central security forces in Tarn Taran Lok Sabha and Sham Churasi Vidhan Sabha constituencies in the state where bye-elections are being held.In a communication to the CEC, PPCC general secretary Surinder Kapoor said the government machinery was being misused by the ruling Akali Dal to terrorise the voters. Under this situation, the polling staff from outside the state should be posted in these two constituencies. He also urged the CEC to send independent observers to supervise the election. He regretted the CEC had not taken any action on the complaints sent by the party earlier. He said immediate action was necessary to check the use of unfair means.
