Women's organisations and health groups in the country participating in the campaign have demanded expansion of integrated and holistic women's health services, revision and reform in the medical curriculum from a gender sensitive perspective, compulsory sex education in formal and informal education system at all levels, an increase in the health budget and official declaration of this day as day for action on women's health.May 28 is observed world-wide as a day for action on women's health. The decision to observe this day and launch campaigns was taken in 1987 at the Fifth International Women and Health meeting in Costa Rica by the World Global Network of Reproductive Rights.
