Cong acting out of frustration: CM

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHAMBA, May 27: Himachal Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said that the state Congress in its frustration was using undemocratic measures, such as stone pelting and manhandling, to disrupt Bharatiya Janata Party's public meetings.

He was talking to media persons at the Circuit House, where he had halted for a brief rest after touring Pangi segment of Bharmour tribal assembly constituency.

Dhumal said he had toured all the tribal belts of the state and had found huge support from the people of these areas. At a public meeting in Pangi Kilar, he said, some drunk Congress workers had pelted stones and used unparliamentary language. He said, in Kinnaur, of where it is famous that people go to bed at 8 pm, he had addressed a massive public gathering at 1.30 am.

He said that Congress had done nothing in Kinnaur during the 13 years of Virbhadra Singh's government, but now they were trying to woo voters. But, he said, people of this area are intelligent enough to understand such tactics and will not be influenced by false promises.

He said that during the campaign he had found many irregularities in the government funds done by the previous government and some cases of land grabbing done by MLAs and Ministers had come to light. He said that the culprits will be brought to book and action would be taken according to the law of the land.

He said cases of irregularities in katha trade and illicit felling had also come to light and the government was seriously considering action against those responsible.

Industries Minister Kishori Lal and Maheshwar Singh, BJP candidate from the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency, were also present.
