Arun guides IA to victory

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, May 31: Star-studded Indian Airlines retained the 25th edition of Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial tournament but not before giving the spectators some exciting moments in the final against DS Group at Hindu College. IA won by two wickets for their eighth title since 1981.

Set a victory target of 211, IA made a brilliant start with opener J Arun Kumar scoring 73 and sharing two valuable partnerships, with skipper Vijay Dahiya (21) and Shafiq Khan (50), of 41 runs and 89 runs respectively. But a middle-order collapse made the task look difficult (174-6). But thanks to Ashok Singh (28 not out off 34 balls) Airlines made it.

Put in to bat, D.S.Group reached 210 for seven with opener Balwinder Singh (42), Harish Kumar (53 not out) and Rajeev Rathore (48) contributing useful runs. J Arun Kumar was declared the man of the match. Sateyendra Yadav of Collage Group won the man of the tournament award while Devinder Singh of D.S.Group got the best all-rounder prize. The best batsman and the best bowler award was bagged by Safique Khan and Doda Ganesh respectively.

The award (Chetan Dev Sharma memorial trophy) for the `best disciplined team' went to Collage Group.
