Niti crowned 'Miss Naturelle'

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, May 31: At the Miss Naturelle beauty pageant organised at the Water Park, Fun City yesterday, 17-year-old Niti clinched the title with Sonali and Hitika emerging as the first and second runners-up, respectively.

Sonali also clinched the Miss Beautiful Hair, Miss Catwalk and Miss Best Legs title, while 18-year-old Sarita was the judges' choice for the Miss Perfect Ten title.

Of the 12 participants vying for the crown, the three were selected after six rounds which included two elimination rounds.

True to its name, `Fire,' the first elimination round, saw seven `natural' beauties sashaying along the Water Park all in block-printed, blazing saffron chiffon sarees. They answered questions posed by Piyush Sodhi, Poonam, the comperes, and the judges. Their answers decided the last five for the final round. These were Sarita, Sonali, Priya, Hitika and Niti. The final round saw all the participants in evening gowns penning down their answers to a single question put to them by the comperes. The swimwear round generated tremendous excitement among those present. The catchy tunes for the various rounds inspired some to jive and tap their feet.

The highlight of the evening were dance performances by a three-member Russian group. They performed a ballet, a Boldovian dance and a doll dance among others. The audience watched in awe as they swayed to the melodious music.

The show scheduled to start at 7 p.m., began two hours late, and finished past midnight. Mediapersons had a difficult time following the show due to the sitting arrangement which ensured that most of the time they did not got to see the faces of the participants.
