In an appeal, which appeared in the leading newspapers of the region in the form of advertisements today, Director General of Health Services P. L. Jindal said the nurses should join their duties to maintain the honour and prestige of their profession. He said their grievances could be redressed by way of discussions for which the government was holding negotiations with their (nurses') leaders.

Meanwhile, local B. D. Sharma Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) authorities have served chargesheets to about 25 striking nurses so far, asking them to explain why their services should not be terminated for remaining on strike since May 21. Meanwhile, it is learnt that a meeting between government officials and nurses' representatives is scheduled for today at Chandigarh.

SONEPAT: The agitating nurses assembled at the office of the civil surgeon and sat on a day's dharna. They also shouted slogans against the state government as well as Chief Minister Bansi Lal. KURUKSHETRA: Medical services were virtually paralysed today as the nursing staff of Lok Nayak Jai Parkash Narain Hospital and otherdispensaries went on indefinite strike today. For the past two weeks the nurses had been observing a two-hour token strike.

The nurses raised slogans against the state government and asserted that their strike would not be called off till their all the demands are met.Condemning the ongoing agitation, patients and their attendants have started shifting to private nursing homes.
