NEW DELHI, June 3: At least 44 officers of the Delhi Police, including 12 senior officers, were transferred today.Among the significant transfers are that of Additional Commissioner of Police S.K. Jain (south) who has been posted as Addl CP (headquarters). He has been replaced by Joint Commissioner of police Amod Kanth who has been brought back from Mizoram.
Kanth, who has served in various capacities in the Delhi Police earlier, returns to the Delhi Police after almost three years.Kiran Bedi, currently serving as a Special Secretary to the Delhi Lieutenant-Governor, has been moved back to Delhi Police as Joint Commissioner (training). Her posting ends speculation surrounding her continuation in the high profile post of a Special Secretary, especially after Vijai Kapoor took over as the new L-G.
Pooran Singh has been appointed Joint Commissioner (vigilance), while N.S. Rana -- currently Addl CP (training) is the new Addl CP (special branch).Kanwaljeet Deol who was serving as Addl CP (headquarters), returns to traffic in the same rank.
Police Commissioner V.N. Singh and not Senior Addl CP Ajay Aggarwal who held dual charge of Security and Traffic. Aggarwal has been divested off the traffic portfolio. The present Addl CP (Traffic) S.K. Choudhary has been appointed Addl CP (PM security) in a newly created post.
At the district level, Balaji Srivastava has been promoted from Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (East).
The present incumbent of the DCP's post in east district P.K. Bharadwaj is the new DCP (south-west). Bharadwaj replaces S. Prakash who has been posted as DCP(1st battalion). Kishen Kumar who headed the Licensing Department has been appointed DCP (special branch). And S.S. Grewal, currently with the 1st battalion, is the the new DCP (IGI Airport). Grewal replaces A.S. Toor who was recently transferred to Arunachal Pradesh. Besides the senior officers, 32 officers in the rank of inspectors have been transferred. Most of these officers are currently posted as Additional SHOs. V.N. Singh could not be contacted for comments despite repeated attempts. Sources, however, said that though most of the transfers were routine, those in the Southern Range were effected following specific orders from the Home Ministry.
Another list of transfers and new appointments is expected to issued tomorrow.
