NEW DELHI, June 9: Garhwal Diamond defeated Bangadarshan 2-1 in the DSA League Championship at the Ambedkar Stadium here today. Bangadarshan took the lead in the 21st minute through Sushanta Betal which was equalised by midfielder Mahesh Bisht for Garhwal in the 27th minute. Mahesh Bisht netted the match-winner in the 39th minute.In a one-sided group B match, Uttrakhand trounced Delhi Tigers 6-0. Rakesh Dhyani put his side in the lead in the second minute. Inside-left Ajay Rana netted the second in the 37th minute while Anil Shah got the third goal in the 41st minute. Substitute Dinesh increased the tally to 4-0 in the 46th minute and Devender Malkoti put his ahead 5-0 in the 49th minute. Anjay Rana completed the tally in the 58th minute.
Jat Heroes lost to Venus Club 2-0 in a group A match. Rashid and Zakir scored the goal. In the other match, Shakti held goalless by Ashoka.
LG `Team up to win' contest: LG Electronics announced the first set of lucky winners of the `LG Team up to win' contest. The first batch of winners -- Dr Sujit Ghosh (Calcutta), Sunil Chopra (Delhi) and Dr A.K. Singh (Sambalpur) will leave for France to watch the league matches.
