Trials for Indian Schools cricket team

CHANDIGARH, June 18: The trials to select probables for the Indian Schoolcricket team in under-15 boys category will be held on June 28 and 29 at Punjab Agriculture University (PAU), Ludhiana ground. The Indian Schools team would tour England in August.

According to BD Gandhi, secretary, School Games Federation of India (SGFI), all affiliated units should send four-five talented players for the trials, who should be below 15 years on September 1, 1997.

The participants should bring their original date of birth certificate along with proof of a bonafide school student. Players whose names are recomended by the affiliated units will only be allowed to take part in the trials and should bring their own sports equipment.

The participants should reach the venue on June 27 and should contact Vinod Chitkara, liaison officer SGFI, Ludhiana (Ph-447847).

The first coaching camp will be held from June 30 to July 10 while the second camp is slated to be held from July 11 to July 31.

Sunil enters final
Sunil Kumar and Amanjot Singh of Chandigarh sailed into the finals of the under-16 and under-14 boys categories in the Adidas sub-junior and mini junior masters tennis tournament at Delhi.

According to information received here, Sunil beat Vinod Sewa of West Bengal 6-3, conceded while Amanjot defeated Monaj Sewa (WB) 6-4, 6-0.

Sunil will meet Parantap Chaturvedi of Dhaita in the final. In the under-14 finals, Amonjot will take on Rohan Gajjar of Maharashtra.
