CHANDIGARH, June 18: PUNCOM entered the final of the First Girdhari Lal Memorial cricket tournament after getting past State Bank of Patiala by 29 runs in the semifinal match at Ludhiana today.The ever so reliable all rounder Munish Arora proved his worth once again as he claimed 5 for 29 besides chipping in with 25 runs in a crucial stage for PUNCOM. He was also declared man of the match.
Ravneet Ricky (38), Munish Arora and skipper Krishan Mohan (21) propped up the PUNCOM total of 182 for 9. For SBP, seamer Rajiv Sirhindi captured 4 for 32.
Despite defiant knocks by southpaw Rakesh Rehni (50) and Munish Bali (45) SBP batsmen succumbed to the pressure applied by PUNCOM's bowlers, led by left arm spinners Munish Arora and bharti vij (3 for 17).
PUNCOM will now meet Jalandhar XI in the final.
Scores: PUNCOM: 182 for 9 (Ravneet Ricky 38, Munish Arora 25, Krishan Mohan 21, Rajiv Sirhindi 4-32, Ranjiv 2-21, Munish Bali 2-33) beat SBP: 154 (Rakesh Rehni 50, Munish Bali 45, Munish Arora 5-29, Bharti Vij 3-17).
